Walker retires

Co-workers gathered and celebrated Linda Walker, center, who worked in WIC for 14 years and retired at the end of January. Congratulations, Linda!

Better Bites needs a slogan

Better Bites, the new line of healthy concession food, needs a slogan. The person who comes up with the winning slogan will win $100, two season pool passes and lunch with Mayor Jim Gray. The contest is open to youth and adults. Click on the image above for more details.

Meeting up

Left, staff members are working with community partners to establish the Healthy Heart Coalition of the Bluegrass to empower individuals to improve heart health through awareness and education. Right, Grace Saulsbury led a Child Care Health Consultation training to teach child care providers about pediatric abusive head trauma (PAHT), or “shaken baby syndrome.”

LFCHD staff can be part of special YMCA diabetes program

The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department and the YMCA are combining to offer the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program. The program will give participants a chance to learn more about diabetes, increase physical activity and get discounted use of the YMCA.
