HANDS reaching out during holidays
Thompson Road Baptist Church recently hosted a special event, at which attendees donated pre-school age toys, to be given to HANDS families and children during the Christmas holiday. Debbie Spence, HANDS FSW and member of the church, collected two boxes of age-appropriate toys for the kids at the event! When thanks were extended to Debbie from the HANDS staff, she replied, “Give God the glory, not me!”
You can help HANDS families during Christmas and throughout the year, too! Here are a list of items that HANDS most often needs: diapers, brightly colored duct tape, baby clothes (sizes Preemie-2T), bibs, plastic bowls, spoons, plates, forks, sippy cups, board books, bath toys, rattles, “squeekie” toys, puzzles, blocks and educational toys. If you would like to help HANDS families, you can turn in these items to the HANDS Program, located on the fourth floor of 650 Newtown Pike. HANDS staff greatly appreciate any of your contributions!
Did you know? HANDS (Health Access Nurturing Development Services) services are offered to any first- time parent on a voluntary basis. The family can enter the program during pregnancy and up until the baby is 12 weeks old. Families can continue in the program until the child is 2 years of age.
